About
Some of our best family memories have happened while traveling—usually when things felt a little unfamiliar, a little unexpected, and a little off the map.
For years, we balanced careers, school schedules, and busy sports calendars—but we always made travel a priority. We were drawn to places where the culture felt real, where we weren’t just passing through but truly experiencing it. Whether navigating tuk-tuks through chaotic streets, wandering quiet villages where we didn’t share a language, or simply slowing down enough to take it all in—those are the moments that stayed with us.
That mindset started early.
Twenty-five years ago, my husband Greg and I took a leap—leaving our jobs in Washington, DC, buying a used campervan, and spending six months exploring Australia and New Zealand. We traded routine for open roads, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, driving through the outback, and discovering what it means to travel without rushing. It changed everything.
Since then, travel has become a central part of our family story. With our two daughters, we’ve sought out experiences beyond the expected—from the summit of Kilimanjaro to the Serengeti, from the waterfalls of Croatia to Machu Picchu, and the quiet charm of Ireland’s smallest villages. Across six continents and more than 65 countries, we’ve learned that the most meaningful moments don’t come from checking off highlights—they come from being fully present in them.
